| The Advisory Committee was established in June 2002. The committee is composed of one member from each of the eight protocol teams, plus two representatives of The Junior League of Plano including the President. The facilitator of the Council sits on the committee in a non-voting capacity. The committee serves in an advisory capacity, presenting recommendations to the Council at large for decision.
The Council completed and adopted its Community Coordinated Response Plan in June 2002. The plan was presented to the public in October of that year at a special event entitled Laying the Foundation: Presenting the Community Response Plan. Established by the Council in July of 2003, the committee is reviewing evaluation tools created by other communities and developing a process for the Council to use in evaluating its plan. The committee will host a facilitator to aid the Council in the process in February, 2004. The evaluation committee is responsible for Goal 1 of the Council’s Strategic Plan which is to develop a comprehensive evaluation process to measure the content, process and implementation for the Community Coordinated Response Plan.
The Statistics Committee was created by the Council in March 2003. The committee is developing a system for gathering and reporting statistical data in family violence cases. The committee will conduct a needs assessment to establish common language, common form, and a universal confidentiality agreement. The committee is actively working on Goal 2 of the Strategic Plan to develop a system for reporting statistical data as it relates to family violence.
Created in February 2003, this committee is investigating the current service needs of communities outside Plano. The committee is conducting a county wide needs assessment of healthcare facilities, independent school districts, social service agencies and law enforcement to evaluate the current accessibility of services. In analyzing the data received from the needs assessment, the committee will determine if the time is ripe for exploring collaborative housing in greater Collin County. The Collaborative Services Committee is responsible for Goal 3 of the Council’s Strategic Plan which is to make services accessible to all residents of Collin County.
The Public Awareness and Education Committee is actively working on promoting public awareness and education on family violence in Collin County, goal 4 of the Strategic Plan. The committee was established by the Council in July 2003. The focus of the committee will be as follows: increasing awareness of the “211” number in Collin County; ensuring the Community Coordinated Response Plan is distributed to all appropriate entities in Collin County; developing common language in dealing with family violence; and, increasing public awareness and education in relation to family violence.
Created in September 2002, the Conference Committee is striving to increase public awareness and education on family violence issues by hosting a two day conference on October 23 – 24, 2003. The conference, entitled Facing Family Violence, will focus on all aspects of family violence from child abuse, partner abuse, elder abuse, sexual assault, as well as intervention and recovery techniques. There will be three nationally known keynote speakers at the conference.
The purpose of the Fund Development Committee, previously known as the Financial Committee, is to seek funding for the Council through grant applications and solicitation of organizations committed to family violence initiatives. The Council uses the 501(c)(3) status of The Junior League of Plano, Texas, Inc.
The Fund Development Committee is currently working on the grant application for the President’s Family Justice Center Initiative Fiscal Year 2004 Grant. The Committee, in conjunction with the Collaborative Services Committee, will assist in developing the concept for a family justice center in Collin County. |
